Cryogenic Vial

SCILAB Cryogenic Vials are high-performance polypropylene tubes engineered for the secure, long-term storage of biological samples at ultra-low temperatures (down to -196°C). Available in both internal thread (IT) and external thread (ET) configurations, there are various vlumes and specifications to choose from. Some vials feature a standardized SBS footprint for automation compatibility and integrate permanent 2D Datamatrix, 1D barcode, and human-readable codes on a single vial for complete sample traceability.

• Enables Full Sample Lifecycle Tracking with 3-in-1 Coding: Each vial is laser-etched with a unique, permanent identifier that combines a scannable 2D Datamatrix code, a 1D linear barcode, and a human-readable number. This “three-code” system ensures samples can be tracked from freezing to retrieval, even in high-density biobanking environments, preventing identification loss due to label damage or condensation.
• Ensures Leak-Proof Integrity for Liquid Nitrogen Storage: The precision-molded screw cap, available in both internal and external thread designs, creates a secure, vapor-tight seal. This prevents sample leakage, cross-contamination, and the ingress of liquid nitrogen, which is critical for maintaining cell viability and sample safety in LN2 vapor phase storage.
• Provides Seamless Integration with Automated Biobanking Systems: The vial base is designed to the SBS (Society for Biomolecular Screening) standard footprint, ensuring perfect compatibility with robotic sample handlers, automated cappers/decappers, and high-throughput storage systems. The coding allows for bottom-up scanning​ without removing vials from racks, dramatically increasing processing speed.
• Optimizes Workflow Flexibility with Thread Choice: Internal Thread (IT) vials offer a lower profile and are often preferred for manual handling and standard freezer boxes.
